Suffolk Slings Babywearing Support

At Suffolk Slings we adore baby wearing. If you haven’t heard of it baby wearing is the delightful practice of carrying your little one close in a beautiful sling. It’s a win-win for both parents and babies. Imagine hands-free cuddles while you conquer your daily to-do list! It's like having a tiny, adorable sidekick who gets a front-row seat to the world. Babies feel secure and loved, often crying less and napping more peacefully. Parents, meanwhile, get to enjoy extra bonding time and a sweet boost of oxytocin, the "love hormone." Plus, navigating crowded spaces or going on outdoor adventures becomes a breeze. Baby wearing: because who doesn't want to wear their heart on their chest?

How Can We Help?

Baby Wearing has so many benefits it’s almost hard to believe. As carrying mammals, humans are designed to have their babies and then carry them for a significant period after birth. This ensures that baby is safe, warm and in the best possible place. Carrying your baby especially with skin to skin contact regulates temperature, heart rate and boosts oxytocin which we know is essential when breastfeeding.

If you are juggling life with more than one child then baby wearing comes in to its own with giving you your hands back to be able to catch a wayward toddler, wipe a bottom or cook dinner. Being able to get little one in a sling confidently can be a game changer and we’re here to support you.

Who Makes Up Suffolk Slings

Rosie

I’m a parent of 4, my eldest is nearly 10 and youngest is 4. Alongside the children and all the admin that comes with them (why did no one tell me I’d essentially be a glorified PA?!) I work full time and am also studying towards a degree. I like tea, pizza, music, cake, Fanta, biscuits, books and occasionally five minutes to myself…

The sling library has been my passion for as long as I’ve had babies. I was introduced to babywearing with my firstborn by my sister, who also used to run the library. From there, the library has dabbled, played and explored different slings, navigated ways of working through a pandemic and a rebrand- here we are today!

I was lucky to have someone to guide me through the complex world of slings and carriers, and hope, through the library to do the same for others wanting to carry their small (or not so small) tiny humans!

Cate

I’m a busy mum to 7 humans and have been carrying my babies for nearly 18 years. Starting off with what appears to be obligatory Baby Bjorn carrier, I soon discovered a world full of ring slings, Mei dais and wovens.

I quickly discovered a love of all things baby wearing and how beneficial it can be to the parent-baby bond.I qualified as a Sling consultant in 2022 and I adore being able to help other parents with carrying their little ones because it can literally be life changing.

As carrying mammals we are designed to carry our babes in arms for many months if not years and by sharing the joy of slings with others I feel it really helps tap into our primal instincts.
